About Deborah da Cunha Estima

PhD Candidate and Researcher

Deborah da Cunha Estima, currently a PhD candidate in Tourism at the University of Aveiro in collaboration with CIBIO-InBIO/University of Azores, holds an MSc Degree in Tourism Management and Development from the same university. She is a recipient of a PhD scholarship from the Regional Science Fund of the Regional Azorean Government. With post-graduations in Tropical Coastal Environments Management (UFPE), Entrepreneurial Tourism Management (Integrated Faculties of Recife), and Data Analysis and Information Management (UAc), Deborah has diverse research experience, including her role in the “Azores Green Islands Tourism” project (2010-2011) funded by MIT-Portugal. Previously, she served as the director of the NGO “Instituto Recifes Costeiros” from 2004 to 2006, and as CFO of projects such as “Coral Vivo,” “Monitoramento dos Recifes de Coral do Brasil – Reef Check,” and “Centro de Interpretação Ambiental Recifes Costeiros” in Brazil.
