Peter van Aert is a Dutch anthropologist, living Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. He is co-author of the institutional plan (2011) of the ‘Universidad Nacional de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur’ (founded in 2010), where he currently teaches and conducts research. He is concluding his Phd research on sustainability, applied to local informal dwelling conditions in Ushuaia. Related to island issues, he is the author of the Tierra del Fuego chapter of the Book “The Political Economy of Divided Islands” (Baldacchino, ed., 2013), and published a review essay on the Beagle Conflict in the Island Studies Journal (2016, Vol. 11 No1).
