Mr. Shyam is a seasoned, committed team member & Chartered Engineer (CEng.) who really enjoys the challenge of producing sustainable energy transitions such that a world-leading organization is created and a significant social effect is made and transformed into an entrepreneur with advanced expertise in conceptualizing, planning, and strategic leadership in the RE Sector.
Since March 2016, Mr. Shyam is employed at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), New Delhi. He has more than 6 years of experience in the Green Energy Sector and in the thermal power project site, though much of his work has been in the development of policies and regulations for the Government of India’s 100 National Solar Mission. The key initiatives are 40 GW Solar Park Scheme, 300 MW Defence Scheme, Open Bidding Scheme based on tariffs, Floating Solar Scheme, Solar Wind Hybrid Parks, Ultra Mega RE Parks, and the Manufacturing Scheme to support the Government of India’s 175 GW Green Energy Goals to be achieved by 2022 and 450 GW by 2030. During the process, he has also organized the technological, organizational, and financial viability of the projects/reports.
The other big work where he participates are setting up solar photovoltaic projects by tariff-based open bidding under the VGF Scheme; Scheme to encourage DISCOMs to capture renewable energy above RPO targets; World Bank Financing for the Development of Solar Parks’ Internal Infrastructure; Scheme for Floating Solar Projects on Water Bodies and Scheme for Sustainable Power to All.
Academically, he is post-graduated in electrical engineering from Rajasthan Technical University, Kota (India).
He is an inventor/co-inventor of more than 15 patents in the area of Electric Vehicles, Thermal Storage systems, Floating Solar, nanoantennae for solar applications, power distribution and management systems for agriculture purposes, secure and effective power supply systems and other new innovative applications in Renewable Energy sector. These patents have been registered and published in World Intellectual Property Organization [WIPO], Switzerland as well as Intellectual Property India, Office of the Controller General of Patents, Design and Trade Marks, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. In addition, 2 International patents have been granted by the Australian Patent Office, Government of Australia.
Apart from these he has co-authored two books and has more than 40 National/international peer-reviewed journal/conference publications in the past on topics like Solar Parks, Grid Integration, Hybrid systems, Power Systems, and Renewable Energy sectors.
He is actively engaged with a number of technical institutions like IEEE (Sr Member), IET (Member), CIGRE (Member) and Fellow/Life Member in UACEE, Institution of Engineers, Renewable Energy Society of India (RESI), Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) & International Association of Engineers (IAENG), etc.
