About Rex Ronter Ruiz

Rex is the co-founder of iRISE – a disaster risk reduction management platform for the island of Tubigon to equip island residents with accurate and timely information about tidal flooding and disaster resilience. This project was awarded by Google in August 2021 as one of the Top 3 solutions for the Google Solutions Challenge 2021. He graduated his Mech. Eng’g degree through the Philippine DOST scholarship. As an active student leader, he was the Editor-in-Chief on his high school and college years. Subsequently elected as the university student president, he was the Philippine-representative to the YUVA Meet 2014 in New Delhi, India. Currently, he is presently taking MS studies on Environmental Engineering at University of the Philippines – Diliman with special interests on sustainability and island studies, climate change and disaster resilience and solid waste management track.
