COP29, which opens on the 16th and runs until the 23rd, is an annual event where governments around the world gather to discuss policies to respond to climate change. Representatives from 198 countries, media, industry, and non-governmental organizations are participating this year.
Jeju Island’s 2035 carbon neutrality policy was introduced as a ‘carbon neutral best practice’ at the general meeting held on the 14th. In addition, Imani Kumal, vice president of the World Local Government for Sustainability (ICLEI), said, “Jeju Island is the most leading carbon neutrality plan and sustainable development strategy in Asia,” suggesting that it would provide an opportunity to share Jeju’s policies with the international community.
