Many islands face challenges in internet connectivity due to their remoteness and the high cost of crossing open sea. As a result, islands and remote regions need innovative solutions and support mechanisms to ensure they can take full advantage of the communication technologies required to address their specific needs.

This incident has highlighted the necessity of ensuring that there are multiple modes of internet connectivity for remote regions.
