Welcome to the last day of the Island of Hope!

The Island of Hope stage has proven immensely successful, fostering connections poised to significantly benefit island communities globally. Racquel Moses, UNFCCC Global Ambassador and CEO at the Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator, highlighted the significance of such forums. She emphasised that while policy makers shape the framework, the real implementation of these policies occurs in spaces like the Island Of Hope, where interpersonal connections drive action.

The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Rt. Hon Patricia Scotland, alongside Sen. Quincia Gumbs-Marie, Hon. Steven Victor and Hon. Christine Scipio, shared the stage and highlighted important topics such as adaptation ocean conservation, and more.

Our platform hasn’t just hosted high-ranking executives and government officials; it has also given a crucial voice to youth from underrepresented island states and sub-national island jurisdictions, exemplified by St. Maarten’s sole representative at COP, Rhiddi Samtani. Additionally, our Caribbean Youth Delegation welcomed another group of even younger representatives: children and adolescents from Indonesia, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, China, Costa Rica, and other countries attended a session addressing inclusion in climate action.

“We came all the way here and they didn’t even want to let us in. This is my fifth COP, and I hope decisions made here will secure a future for my generation,” said Brayden Flynn, an 11-year-old student, reflecting on his experience.
