

Julian Lopez Ramirez
Julian has more than 22 years’ experience with national and international tax regulations and tax administration. As former Director of Fiscal Affairs and Director General of Customs of the Netherlands Antilles and Curacao, Julian was the principal advisor to the government on all local and international tax matters. As Director of Customs he also led the complete reorganization and modernization of the Customs department of the Netherlands Antilles. In 2014 he also led the modernization of the Aruban Customs organization as interim Director General. Julian currently also teaches Indirect taxes at the University of Curacao for the Fiscal Masters, he serves as a member of the Social Economic Council (SER), the Daily board of VBC, the Supervisory board of the Children’s Museum and as acting President of the Supervisory board of the Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten.
As lead engagement partner of most Deloitte Dutch Caribbean clients in Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire and Saint Martin, Julian serves all major clients with respect to their direct and indirect tax issues. Julian has also been involved in various tax restructuring projects, both locally and internationally. His client base includes multi-nationals, large financial institutions and a significant number of major local customers in Curacao, Aruba, Saint Martin and Bonaire. Julian also frequently assists clients in Surinam. As of 2021 Julian was a founding member of the Deloitte Dutch Caribbean Mangrove Foundation in which he is currently also one of the directors. With this foundation a reforestation partnership has been concluded with the Ryan de Jong Foundation.
As of October 1st Julian was appointed as the Strategic and Sustainability leader of Deloitte in the Dutch Caribbean.
