Japan's JICA contributes $1 billion to IDB Invest for Latin America's sustainable growth
Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) announced a $1 billion contribution to a fund aimed at boosting the private sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank to finance sustainable growth across Latin America and the Caribbean. The move marks JICA’s largest private sector fund in the region and the first with IDB Invest, which has prioritised leveraging financing through the “originate-to-share” strategy.

Martinique Takes Giant Leap Signing CARICOM Accession Agreement
At the 48th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in Barbados, an agreement was signed by the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Hon. Mia Mottley, in her capacity as Chairman of the regional organisation, and the President of the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique (CTM), Serge Letchimy, for Martinique’s accession to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The Islands and Small States Institute (ISSI) at the University of Malta is offering fully online or blended opportunities to pursue a Master by Research in Islands and Small States studies, as well as a PhD programme.
The ISSI is a centre of excellence in teaching and research associated with islands and small states, hosting world-renowned scholars and lecturers, and has been offering the highest academic and professional standards for over thirty years.
Moreover, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism (MFT), in collaboration with the University of Malta, is providing three scholarships for students reading for a full-time degree and who are nationals of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA).
