Top UN court to begin hearings on landmark climate change case
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is set to hear arguments from over 100 groups in a Pacific-led campaign seeking an advisory opinion on what legal obligations countries worldwide have to address climate change and assist vulnerable nations in coping with its destructive effects. Hearings will run until 13 December and the opinion will be delivered in 2025.

Recently, James Ellsmoor (CEO of Island Innovation) and Katalin Magyar (Business Development Director of Island Innovation) travelled to the island of Gozo (Malta) and met with the Gozo Regional Development Authority to discuss collaboration opportunities on future European Union sustainability projects.
Gozo is the only island authority that has been selected to participate in the EU Mission “100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030“. The Maltese island’s selection recognises its potential to become a climate-neutral island. With the support of the EU Mission, Gozo will receive funding and expertise to implement innovative projects and achieve its climate goals. During the meeting, they discussed their Climate Neutrality Plan and potential collaborations on future European Union projects for sustainable economic development.
On the other hand, Arianna Abdul-Nour flew to Samsø (Denmark), the planet’s first 100% renewable island. She joined Xynteo and ABB at the Energy Academy for a workshop on accelerating Samsø’s decarbonisation goals alongside many other island stakeholders.
