‘We will fight until Kanaky is free’: How New Caledonia caught fire

No rain in sight as France's Martinique declares first ever drought
In a statement, Martinique’s prefecture said the island had received 70% less rainfall in April than it had in the last 30 years, and warned the drought conditions were getting close to the record set in 1973.
Rainwater is the primary source of drinking water in Martinique, and many residents of south of the island are already contending with rotating water cuts, with rivers and reservoirs dangerously low.

The 2024 Global Sustainable Islands Summit, held in Prince Edward Island, Canada, has concluded with great success, bringing together policymakers, specialists, solution providers, and community members from around the world.
One of the standout moments was the Solutions Showcase, which highlighted the transformative potential of cleantech solutions presented by some of our esteemed sponsors: UOMA Atlantic – Used Oil Management Association, Seabased, Glas Ocean Electric, and Sunly.
These innovative approaches by private sector leaders demonstrate that sustainable development is not only achievable but also economically viable. By fostering partnerships between the private sector, governments, and communities, we can accelerate the deployment of these solutions and create a sustainable future for islands.
We extend our gratitude to our sponsors EPRA, Our Shared Ocean, AKA Energy Systems, Clean Foundation, Eco Canada, Enwave Energy Corporation, and especially to our premium sponsor, McInnes Cooper Law, for their unwavering support and commitment to the Summit. Their sponsorship has been instrumental in making this event a resounding success. Thank you for your dedication to fostering a greener, more resilient future.
