Bernice Nere Charles is the President and CEO of Cosmos Solution, a Haitian firm dedicated to renewable energy and organic waste management. She oversees the development and implementation of projects that convert waste into biogas and organic fertilizers, and she plays an active role in international climate change discussions. Charles is currently pursuing a Master’s in Sustainable Energy Engineering at Atlantic International University. Her initiatives include the construction of a methanization unit to produce electricity and support local technological innovation. Committed to advancing climate justice, she aims to empower women in renewable energy and improve community resilience to climate change. Charles plans to dedicate 3 to 4 hours a week to the program to enhance her leadership skills and develop sustainable solutions for Haiti.

Charles is a civil engineer by training and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering. Her professional experience includes managing Cosmos Solution, overseeing the production of biodigesters and organic fertilizer, and conducting research on training topics related to waste management and renewable energy.

Charles’ involvement in climate activism stems from her firsthand experience with the devastating impacts of climate change in Haiti. Witnessing the challenges faced by her community, she founded Cosmos Solution to develop sustainable solutions that address issues such as deforestation, waste management, and energy access.
