Danielle Clair Seales is an MSc student in Marine Environmental Management at the University of Exeter, hailing from the Cayman Islands. Her master’s thesis focuses on the impact of artificial light on sea turtles, a pressing issue for many Caribbean islands. As a climate ambassador for Sustainable Cayman, Danielle is dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and conservation within her community. She is passionate about raising awareness of the unique vulnerabilities faced by small island developing states, particularly in the context of climate change and sea level rise.

Danielle’s motivation lies in connecting with other Caribbean individuals committed to environmental advocacy and learning from their experiences. She has been actively involved in sea turtle conservation since 2019, working with the Cayman Islands Department of Environment’s Sea Turtle Nesting Program. Danielle’s ultimate goal is to spread global awareness about the challenges her region faces due to climate change and to advocate for necessary regional and international support.
