About Amelia DaCruz

Water Quality is a broad topic, and Amelia has researched and consulted within the many, many ways that water quality impacts the safety of the water we drink. She has degrees in biochemistry, marine biology, and environmental science and 12 years as a certified toxicologist. She has consulted for many public water providers on Caribbean, Atlantic and Pacific islands. As the lead of the Avanti Water Technical Assistance Team, she recently completed a 2024-2025 educational workshop series on Cistern Maintenance in the Virgin Islands for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR). She is delighted to share some of the best practices for sourcing and maintaining safe drinking water for island residents and small water systems.
