This occasional newsletter highlights events and stories about innovation in sustainable development for rural, remote and island regions. We want to change the discourse to demonstrate how islandness can be a driver for innovation.

About Lisa Millette
In her role as a Community Development Officer, Lisa provides project management and community engagement support around Maine Island’s critical transportation such as ferry, water taxi, and air service. In coordination with the Maine Department of Transportation and island representatives, the Island Institute currently is engaged in a study exploring strategies to enhance the sustainability of the six islands served by the Maine State Ferry Service.
Before joining the Island Institute, Lisa worked in organic agriculture, as the head seed grower for a biodynamic seed company in upstate New York. She moved to Maine in the fall of 2017 to be closer to family and friends and reconnect with her roots. In her free time, Lisa enjoys exploring the area with her friends and their dogs, practicing yoga, and drinking copious amounts of tea. A lover of raw oysters, she couldn’t be more psyched to live on the coast of Maine!
