About Shenella Govia
Shenella Govia is the youngest person ever to have been selected to serve as a Senator in the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda, she was elected at 22 years old in 2014. Shenella Govia is rooted deeply in philanthropic projects via her parliamentary appointment and Junior Chamber International.
Senator Shenella holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and Diplomas in Business Management, Human Resource Management, Project Management and is employed as the Executive Secretary to the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda. She also serves as a Director on the National Student Loan Advisory Committee and the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Committee.
Her group affiliations over the years have included Mahico Stars Steel Orchestra, Junior Achievers, Girl Guides, Red Cross, the youth group at her Catholic Church and Junior Chamber International (JCI). In JCI Shenella served as President of the Antigua and West Indies Chapter’s in 2015 and 2018 respectively. In 2019 Senator Shenella served as the Chairman of JCI Government and Partnership Committee and in 2020 JCI Vice President assigned to JCI USA, Canada, Dominican Republic and Canada. She presently serves as a member of the JCI Strategic Planning Committee.
Apart from her interest in philanthropy, Shenella enjoys netball, making lasting memories and capturing them on camera. She also enjoys spending quality time with her family, experiencing different cultures and reading. Considered by many as a role model for women and youth, Senator Shenella believes in equality of reward and opportunity for all. She embraces the philosophy that the essence of living is found in service to others, by reaching out and seeking opportunities to impact the lives of those around you.
