The need to overcome challenges can lead to impressive feats of innovation! The Island Finance Forum hosted by Island Innovation and PwC Caribbean in April brought together experts from all around the world to discuss the issues affecting island communities and solutions available to them and how best to leverage finance and find capital to develop innovative projects. The three-day virtual event ended with a closing session showcasing the most promising Blue Economy initiatives being implemented around the world, and how they could help islands build resilience and overcome their challenges.
Islands are at the leading edge of innovation in several sectors including nature-based solutions and the development of the blue and green economy. Sharing these existing solutions bring various benefits to island communities such as valuable knowledge and best practices, cost-effective approaches that have already been implemented elsewhere, collaboration and partnerships leading to joint research projects, visibility, advocacy and more.
As every year, our flagship event, the Virtual Island Summit will gather speakers & attendees (policymakers, academics, NGO representatives, entrepreneurs, etc), from around the world, to share their expertise on topics pertinent to island communities.
In a few weeks, the Blue Economy and Sustainable Islands Forum will take place in Madeira. We will explore the potential of sustainable ocean-based industries to drive economic growth while preserving the health of our planet.
