One of the most pressing concerns facing the Caribbean is the continued influx of Sargassum seaweed. From the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Barbados and Guadeloupe, island territories are formulating emergency responses to deal with this growing environmental issue. Our team member Audrey Joachim, who lives in Guadeloupe, shared her concern on LinkedIn a few weeks ago:
While this issue is definitely challenging, it also creates opportunities to explore nature-based solutions, as well provide budding entrepreneurs with an outlet to explore business opportunities. These solutions and opportunities were discussed during a session entitled “Caribbean Regional Cooperation on Tackling the Sargassum Crisis” which was held during the inaugural Virtual Island Summit.
We invite you to register for this year’s Virtual Island Summit, which will feature many insightful and relevant panel discussions to explore ways to turn challenges into opportunities, through collaboration and sharing solutions.
