On Sunday, 16 October, World Food Day will be observed in a year with multiple global challenges including the ongoing pandemic, climate change, rising prices and international tensions. These issues exacerbate the inequalities concerning global food security. Unfortunately, islands are the most vulnerable to these effects and food and nutrition insecurity persist. To tackle these challenges, island communities are increasingly favouring local resources, promoting local production, implementing sustainable agricultural practices and initiatives helping create a resilient future for the benefit of current and future generations.
In this week’s newsletter, we selected some of the best agriculture and food security sessions from the Virtual Island Summit 2022 and 2021, in which many of these initiatives are being shared.
