These vital global climate talks were delayed by one year due to the pandemic, but there is growing uncertainty over what COP26 will look like this year. The event, scheduled for November in Glasgow, should bring together representatives from every nation to form an agreement on climate change. However, the ongoing pandemic is still an important barrier to its success.
There is talk on a possible hybrid event (in-person and virtual) COP26, which will fundamentally change the way that delegates, activists and other participants interact. This week’s guest post by Yunus Arikan, Director of Global Advocacy at the ICLEI World Secretariat, who discusses possible scenarios and the logistical challenges faced by organizers.
