Rapa Nui invites the world to help it grow Cacao beans
The Pacific Island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) is asking for countries with big pockets to invest in growing cacao beans on the island. Rapa Nui has seen a huge decline in its ecosystem and sees this investment as a way to help fund solutions to its climate change issues. Mana Rapa Nui Foundation president Erity Teave Hey says investments by bigger countries would provide financial support to start building plantations for more food growth.
Launch of Solarization Head of State Residences in Pacific Islands Development Forum Member Countries
The Pacific region is leading the way in renewable energy with the recently launched Solar Head of State project, a joint initiative led by the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) and supported by Island Innovation. Solar Head of State, an organization for which our CEO James Ellsmoor is the Chair of the Board, aims to highlight the immediate energy security and sustainable development advantages of solar energy by installing solar photovoltaic panels. The project implementation kicked off with the launch at the Official Residence of the President in Suva, Fiji.
